Happy Halloween!

My mom, October 1950

Wishing everyone a very safe and happy Halloween!

And for those of you in an Eichler home here in town, hope the ghosts and goblins are able to find your front door :)

WOW!

Your mother had strange/fantastic taste in costumes! I cannot believe you have a photo of her in costume from 1950...

I suspect there are no such photos of my mother (or her sisters) because at that time they were dirt poor and probably didn't do much trick-or-treating.

Perhaps that's why she always really encouraged me to dress up each year.

Thanks Kerri -- the only photos I have are the ones that my grandmother sent to my great-grandmother in Cleveland. At one point in my grandma's last couple of years, she gave me the small box of photos and some cherished documents.

The rest of the family photos are lost to an attic in Santa Rosa where my mom once lived, as far as I know. It's only a fluke that I have any photos at all, so I really relish them.

My early childhood is largely undocumented because I lived with so many different family members. I think that's why I take so many of my own kids!
