Anniversaries
This week marks the one-year anniversary of our falling in love with our Eichler Home. I still remember the first time I walked into the middle of the estate sale and being overwhelmed with how wonderful it was. I only bought a $2 vase that day but the house haunted me and we made an offer on it a couple of days later.
This week also marks a sadder anniversary -- two years since my sweet grandmother passed away on November 1st. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday (one of my grandmother's favorites too) but when I light the pumpkin candles I now also light at yahrzeit candle in her memory.
My grandmother primarily raised me and made my childhood happier; we were very close. She and I shared many Halloweens together. She always made it a point to put together a special treat for the neighborhood children. This tradition continues at our house.
Hope all of you have a very happy Halloween!

Those are very sweet pictures of your grandma. My grandma lived in the Curtis Park neighborhood on 9th avenue, Sac. Your pictures reminded me of her and how much I still miss her. Easter was our big time, I'd stay with her over spring break. Thanks
Thank you so much, Mid Century Madam! I know exactly the area where your grandma lived. I can only imagine how much fun Easter egg hunting and playing in Curtis Park must have been. Good to hear from another person who cherishes their grandma!
Yes, we did hunt Easter eggs at Curtis Park and I remember making an Easter bonnet with fresh flowers. Parks and Rec always had things going on there. Sweet memories. The last time I visited the house, which was right down the street from an elementary school, the area was looking a little rough. I hope it has been saved.
I lived on Donner Way from 1993 - 2000. Revitalization efforts are ongoing throughout the neighborhood from what I can tell.
